My adventures in genealogy
continue to get more interesting. While continuing my
research into my ancestral roots, the last thing I
would have thought is that my ancestor, Philippa Plantagenet, the 5th
Countess of Ulster was also the ancestor
of Queen Elizabeth II
making Her Majesty and I distant relatives. See the
ancestry chart below. In addition, for ten generations
before Philippa Plantagenet, the Queen and I share identical
direct royal line ancestry.
We also share descent from the bloodlines of Malcolm III of
Scotland, Alfred the Great, Edith of Scotland and Isabella
of France (Queen and consort of Edward II). We both
have the same bloodline from Alfred the Great down to Henry
I of England. And, as you can see, I have an unusual
relationship. I am also descended from the
Spencers: Princess Diana and I also share ancestors.
